Service Families Task Force
The Service Family Task Force (SFTF) was created in 1998 following the Strategic Defence Review to address the problems caused by Service families' mobility that were not within MOD's control. However the role of the SFTF has expanded to deal with all family issues that are outside the scope of an individual service.
There are three elements to the Task Force:
- The Families Forum -This provides an opportunity for Service Families Associations to raise issues, direct with the Under Secretary of State. Meetings are held twice a year and are attended by the chairs of the three Service Families Associations and Service representatives.
- Tri-Service Family Working Group (TSFWG) This working group involves officers from the single Services and the family associations. It meets three times a year and is the first point of contact outside of the Single Services when matters require collective action or Central staff influence to resolve.
- The teams in the Ministry of Defence and individual Services who carry out the day to day work to resolve issues.
The Service Family Task Force does not deal with individual casework, should you need information or advice then contact your local welfare services or the HIVE, or use the links provided in this website to find information from central and local government or other agencies. If you are having difficulties resolving an issue please let your Families Associations, single service officers or ourselves know so that we can consider what action may be needed to improve the situation for yourself and other family members.
